We're entering optimal cake season. Bakers, start your ovens! I've got a good list of ideas to kickstart your creativity this fall.
Recently several Cake Theater members have showcased their football cake designs. Why not take that theme a step further and decorate the field with helmet-shaped candied nuts? I bet you could turn the whole thing into some sort of edible board game if you really wanted to get playful.
Here's an excuse to be trendy... owls fit right in with an autumnal theme. I don't really know why. Owls are owls all year.
Just for fun, why not serve your guests a tree with a side of acorns? Woodland party, anyone?
Last of all, here's my favorite: autumn leaf cookies, colored with spray food coloring! I'm going to try this technique on fondant for my own fall cake. Check in next week to see my results...and cross your fingers!
